Olkem-20 Tablet is used in the long-term management of high blood pressure in adults and in children over six years, on its own or together with other blood pressure medicines.

Uses of Olkem-20 Tablet are:

• High Blood Pressure: Helps lower and control raised blood pressure (hypertension).
• Use in Children: Suitable for managing high blood pressure in children over six years of age.
• Combination Treatment: Can be used alongside other blood pressure medicines when one medicine is not enough.

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Do not crush or chew the tablet.

• It can be taken with or without food, as per your comfort.

• Always follow your doctor's advice regarding the timing and frequency of taking this medicine.

Olkem-20 Tablet is taken orally.

Olkem-20 Tablet consists of olmesartan medoxomil (20 mg), which works as follows:

• Conversion to Active Form: Olmesartan medoxomil is a prodrug, which means it is converted into its active form—olmesartan—during absorption from the gut.

• Blocking Angiotensin II: Olmesartan blocks the binding of a substance called angiotensin II to specific receptors (AT1 receptors) in the smooth muscle lining your blood vessels.

• Relaxing Blood Vessels: Olmesartan helps relax and widen blood vessels by blocking angiotensin II, which has a tightening effect.

• Lowering Blood Pressure: This action reduces blood pressure, making it easier for the heart to pump blood throughout the body.

• Store Olkem-20 Tablet in a cool, dry place, ideally at a temperature not exceeding 30°C.

• Keep it away from direct sunlight and excessive moisture.

• Ensure the medicine is kept out of sight and reach of children.

• Always check the expiry date on the package before use and don't use it if it has expired.

• Maintain a low-salt diet. Reducing salt intake can aid in managing high blood pressure, which is what Olkem-20 Tablet helps control.
