Metpil Xr 50 Tablet 15 is used for the following:

• Managing high blood pressure

• Controlling heart-related chest pain

• Reducing workload on weakened heart muscle

• Suppressing excessive renin activity

• Easing the pumping action of the heart

Follow these instructions while taking Metpil Xr 50 Tablet 15:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet.

• Continue taking this medicine regularly as advised by your doctor.

• Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly without consulting your doctor.

Metpil Xr 50 Tablet 15 is taken orally.

Metpil Xr 50 Tablet 15 contains metoprolol succinate (50 mg), which works on the body as follows:

• Beta-1 receptor blockade: Metoprolol succinate selectively blocks beta-1 receptors in the heart, preventing adrenaline from binding to these receptors.

• Reduced heart rate: By blocking the effects of adrenaline on the heart, this medicine slows down your heartbeat, which helps decrease the workload on your heart.

• Decreased cardiac output: The medicine reduces the force with which your heart contracts, lowering the amount of blood pumped with each heartbeat.

• Suppressed renin activity: Metoprolol succinate helps lower blood pressure by reducing the production of an enzyme that regulates blood pressure.

• Reduced oxygen demand: By slowing heart rate and decreasing the force of heart contractions, this medicine lowers the heart's need for oxygen, which helps relieve chest pain.
