Mesalix 800mg Tablet 10

Mesalix 800mg Tablet 10 is used for the following:

• Treatment of mild to moderate ulcerative colitis

• Maintenance of ulcerative colitis remission

• Management of inflammatory bowel disease

• Reducing intestinal inflammation

• Decreasing colon and rectal inflammation

• Relief of chronic inflammatory conditions of the bowel

• Managing Crohn's disease in certain cases

Follow these instructions while taking Mesalix 800mg Tablet 10:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water.

• Do not crush, break, or chew the tablet.

• You can take this medicine with or without food, but be consistent with timing.

• Maintain adequate fluid intake throughout your treatment.

Mesalix 800mg Tablet 10 is taken orally.

Mesalix 800mg Tablet 10 contains mesalazine (800 mg), which works on the body as follows:

• Anti-Inflammatory Action: Mesalazine reduces inflammation in the intestinal lining by inhibiting the production of chemicals called prostaglandins and leukotrienes that promote inflammation.

• Immune System Modulation: It decreases the activity of immune system cells that are involved in the inflammatory process, helping to reduce the body's inflammatory response in the colon.

• Antioxidant Effect: Mesalazine acts as a potent antioxidant by neutralising harmful free radicals that can damage the intestinal tissues.

• Enzyme Inhibition: It blocks the action of specific enzymes that contribute to inflammation, thereby helping to reduce intestinal swelling and ulceration.

• Topical Action: Rather than working throughout the entire body, mesalazine primarily works locally on the intestinal mucosa to reduce inflammation where it is needed most.

• Store at room temperature below 30°C.

• Protect from moisture, direct heat, and light.

• Keep out of reach of children and pets.

• Do not use this medicine after the expiry date printed on the packaging.

• Maintain adequate fluid intake throughout the day to help reduce inflammation in your colon and lower the risk of kidney stones, which can sometimes occur with mesalazine therapy.

• Consider following a low-fibre diet during ulcerative colitis flare-ups to reduce irritation to your inflamed bowel lining and help manage symptoms like diarrhoea and abdominal pain.
