Magneon 50% Injection is used to treat low magnesium levels in the blood. It is also used to treat and prevent seizures in women who are pregnant and have high blood pressure (pre-eclampsia and eclampsia).
Magnesium sulfate works by enhancing blood flow to nerve cells and stabilising nerve and muscle activity, which helps correct low magnesium levels and reduces the risk of seizures in pregnancy-related high blood pressure conditions.
This injection is given into a vein or muscle by a healthcare professional in a clinical setting, at the dose your doctor determines based on your condition, with close monitoring during administration.
Your doctor and care team will monitor your reflexes, breathing and heart rate closely during treatment, since magnesium levels that are too high can affect these. Tell your doctor about any kidney problems before this injection is given, as magnesium is cleared by the kidneys.
