CompositionLosakind-H Tablet is used to manage high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults when a single medicine is not enough, and to reduce the risk of stroke in people with high blood pressure and an enlarged heart muscle. It combines losartan, an angiotensin receptor blocker, with hydrochlorothiazide, a diuretic.
Losartan relaxes and widens blood vessels by blocking angiotensin II, a hormone that narrows them, while hydrochlorothiazide helps the kidneys remove excess salt and water, and together the two medicines give stronger blood pressure control and help protect the heart and kidneys.
Take this tablet daily at the same time each day, with or without food, exactly as your doctor prescribes, and continue even if you feel well.
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning pregnancy, as this combination is not suitable in pregnancy. Have your kidney function and blood salts checked periodically, since the diuretic component can affect potassium and sodium levels.
