Glycosef Tablet 10 is used for the following:

• Managing type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults

• Controlling blood glucose levels when diet, physical exercise, and weight reduction are not enough

• Used alone or in conjunction with other oral antidiabetic medicines or insulin

• Preventing long-term complications of diabetes, such as kidney damage, blindness, nerve problems, and heart disease

Follow these instructions while taking Glycosef Tablet 10:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Avoid crushing or chewing the tablet.

• Take it at the same time each day for consistent blood glucose control.

• Do not alter the dose without consulting your doctor.

• It's crucial not to stop taking this medicine without speaking to your doctor first.

Glycosef Tablet 10 is taken orally.

Glycosef Tablet 10 contains gliclazide (40 mg), which acts in your body as follows:

• Stimulates Insulin Secretion: Gliclazide acts on specific cells in your pancreas (beta cells) to promote insulin production. Insulin is a hormone that helps your body regulate blood sugar levels.

• Blocks ATP-sensitive Potassium Channels: Gliclazide binds to these channels on the surface of your pancreatic beta cells, leading to cell membrane depolarisation and an influx of calcium. This, in turn, triggers the release of more insulin.

• Increases Peripheral Insulin Sensitivity: In addition to its action on the pancreas, gliclazide enhances insulin sensitivity and glucose uptake in peripheral tissues. This means it helps your body's cells better respond to insulin and absorb more glucose from your bloodstream.

• Store your Glycosef Tablet 10 in a dry place, away from direct light and moisture.

• Keep the medicine at room temperature, ideally below 30°C.

• Make sure the tablet is out of reach of children to avoid accidental consumption.

• Always check the expiry date on the pack and use it before that date for optimal effectiveness.
