• Carbonic Anhydrase Inhibitors: Medicines such as acetazolamide and dichlorphenamide can raise your risk of lactic acidosis (dangerous acid buildup) when taken with metformin.

• Kidney Transport Inhibitors: Medicines like trimethoprim, vancomycin, and ranitidine may increase metformin concentration by competing for elimination through the kidneys.

• Kidney Problems: Metformin is removed from your body through kidneys, so kidney issues could cause the medicine to build up to dangerous levels.

• Liver Disorders: This medicine should be used with caution if you have liver disease, as it may increase your risk of lactic acidosis.
