Gentrol 2.5 Tablet 10 is used for the following:

• Managing high blood pressure

• Preventing heart attacks related to hypertension

• Preventing strokes associated with high blood pressure

• Treating benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate)

• Relieving difficulty urinating due to prostate enlargement

• Improving a weak urine stream in older men

• Reducing frequent night-time urination

• Managing urinary problems in elderly patients

Follow these instructions while taking Gentrol 2.5 Tablet 10:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water.

• Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet, as this affects how it works.

• Take this medicine at the same time each day for best results.

Gentrol 2.5 Tablet 10 is taken orally.

Gentrol 2.5 Tablet 10 contains prazosin (2.5 mg), which works on the body as follows:

• Alpha-adrenergic receptor blockade: Prazosin blocks certain receptors called alpha-1 adrenergic receptors found in blood vessels and the prostate gland. This blocking action prevents the hormone noradrenaline from tightening these tissues.

• Blood vessel relaxation: By blocking alpha-1 receptors in blood vessel walls, prazosin causes the blood vessels to widen and relax. This leads to improved blood flow and lower blood pressure.

• Prostate muscle relaxation: In the prostate gland, prazosin relaxes the smooth muscle tissue. This helps reduce the pressure on the urethra (the tube that carries urine out of the body), making it easier to pass urine.

• Reduced urinary symptoms: By relaxing the muscles at the bladder neck and prostate, prazosin helps improve urine flow and reduces symptoms like frequent nighttime urination.
