Gentoin 100 MG Tablet 10 is used to manage and prevent seizures (epilepsy), including those that occur during or after brain surgery. It is an important medicine for long-term seizure management, helping reduce the risk of recurrent seizures. In some cases, it may also be used to manage certain types of nerve pain (trigeminal neuralgia) and specific heart rhythm disorders (arrhythmias).
This medication contains Phenytoin, an anti-epileptic medicine (AED). It works by slowing down the excessive and rapid firing of electrical signals in the brain that lead to seizures. By stabilizing the nerve cell membranes, it prevents the abnormal electrical discharge from spreading throughout the brain.
Take this tablet exactly as prescribed by your doctor; even small changes in timing or brand can affect your blood levels. Regular blood tests are necessary to ensure the medicine stays within a safe and effective range. Maintain good oral hygiene while taking this medicine, as it can occasionally cause gum swelling (gingival hyperplasia). Inform your doctor if you experience any sudden mood changes, rashes, or coordination problems.
