Frusimed Injection 2 ML

Frusimed Injection 2 ML is used for the following:

• Managing fluid accumulation in congestive heart failure

• Treating oedema caused by liver cirrhosis

• Reducing swelling in kidney diseases

• Managing fluid retention in nephrotic syndrome

• Controlling high blood pressure in emergencies

• Removing excess fluid from the body

• Addressing ascites in liver conditions

• Treating pulmonary oedema

• Managing fluid overload in critically ill patients

• Providing diuresis when oral medicines are not suitable

Follow these instructions when Frusimed Injection 2 ML is administered:

• This medicine should only be administered by a healthcare professional.

• The injection is administered slowly, usually into a vein or muscle.

• Remain in a resting position during and after administration.

• Your blood pressure and heart rate will be monitored during treatment.

• Rise slowly from sitting or lying positions to avoid dizziness.

Frusimed Injection 2 ML is administered intravenously or via an intramuscular route.

Frusimed Injection 2 ML contains frusemide (10 mg), which works on your body in the following ways:

• Loop diuretic action: Frusemide works primarily in an area of your kidneys called the loop of Henle, blocking the reabsorption of salt and water, which increases urine production.

• Sodium-potassium-chloride inhibition: It specifically targets and inhibits a transporter in your kidney cells that normally moves sodium, potassium, and chloride back into your bloodstream, causing these electrolytes to be excreted in urine instead.

• Rapid onset: When administered intravenously, frusemide begins working within minutes, making it effective for situations requiring urgent fluid removal.

• Blood pressure reduction: By decreasing the volume of blood in your circulation, frusemide reduces the workload on your heart and lowers blood pressure.

• Vasodilatory effect: The medicine also causes your blood vessels to relax and widen slightly, which contributes to lowering blood pressure even before significant fluid removal occurs.

• Store Frusimed Injection 2 ML at room temperature between 20 and 25°C.

• Keep ampoules in their original packaging to protect them from light.

• Do not freeze the medicine, as this may damage it.

• Keep out of reach and sight of children.

• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the packaging.

• If you have fluid retention or high blood pressure, follow a low-salt diet by avoiding processed foods, canned soups, and salty snacks, as excess sodium can worsen fluid buildup (oedema).

• Include potassium-rich foods like bananas, oranges, and leafy greens in your diet to help maintain your potassium levels, which may decrease when using this medicine.

• Potassium supplements or monitoring may be required, especially in patients on long-term high-dose therapy.
