CompositionFRUSIMED 40 TABLET 10 is used to treat fluid build-up (oedema) linked with heart failure, liver cirrhosis and kidney disease. By helping the kidneys remove excess water and salt, it reduces swelling in the legs, arms and abdomen and can ease breathing when fluid affects the lungs.
It contains furosemide (frusemide), a loop diuretic, often called a water tablet. It is also used to lower high blood pressure. Because it increases the amount of urine you pass, it is usually taken in the morning as prescribed, so it does not disturb your sleep.
Following any fluid or salt advice from your doctor, and weighing yourself regularly where advised, helps track fluid balance alongside this medicine. Standing up slowly helps reduce dizziness.
Tell your doctor about any kidney or liver problems, low blood pressure, diabetes or gout before starting, and about other medicines you take. Report marked dizziness, muscle cramps, an irregular heartbeat or signs of dehydration such as a very dry mouth and strong thirst.
