By stabilizing the nerve cell membranes, it prevents the abnormal electrical discharge from spreading throughout the brain.

Regular blood tests are necessary to ensure the medicine stays within a safe and effective range. Maintain good oral hygiene while taking this medicine, as it can occasionally cause gum swelling (gingival hyperplasia).
