Duorandil 5mg Tablet 20 is a medicine used to manage chest pain (angina) caused by reduced blood flow to the heart. It helps prevent angina episodes and supports the heart by improving blood and oxygen flow to the heart muscle. It can be a useful option for adults who cannot tolerate beta-blockers or when other anti-anginal medicines do not provide adequate control.
It contains nicorandil, a potassium-channel opener with vasodilator action. It is usually taken at the same times each day, with or without food. Continue taking it regularly even if you feel well. Mild headaches are common when you first start the medicine and usually settle within a few days.
Heart-healthy lifestyle changes support this medicine in managing angina. These include eating a balanced diet low in saturated fat and salt, regular moderate exercise (as advised by your doctor), maintaining a healthy weight, quitting smoking, and limiting alcohol. Reducing physical or emotional stress can also help reduce angina episodes.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have low blood pressure, severe heart failure, recent heart attack, stomach or bowel problems, or are taking other medicines. Do not use this medicine if you are taking medicines for erectile dysfunction (such as PDE5 inhibitors), as the combination can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure. Inform your doctor right away if you develop mouth, anal, or skin ulcers during treatment.
