Drez Ointment is used to treat and help prevent infection in minor wounds, cuts, burns and surgical incisions. It contains povidone iodine, an antiseptic, and is also used for superficial ulcers, including diabetic foot ulcers and bedsores.
Povidone iodine works by releasing iodine, which kills a wide range of bacteria, fungi and viruses on contact, helping prevent infection in the wound and supporting the body's natural healing process.
Apply a thin layer to the affected area, usually once or twice daily as your doctor advises, after cleaning the wound, and continue for as long as recommended.
Tell your doctor if you have a known allergy to iodine, or a thyroid condition, as iodine absorbed through the skin can occasionally affect thyroid function with extensive or prolonged use. Avoid use on large open wounds without medical supervision.
