Dapagliflozin (10 Mg) + Glimepiride (2 Mg) + Metformin (1000 Mg)

Dapanorm Gm2 Forte Tablet 10 is used to manage type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults. It is a combination medicine that belongs to a class of medications known as oral antidiabetic agents.

In addition to improving blood sugar control, this medicine may help prevent or delay diabetes-related complications such as kidney damage, blindness, nerve problems, and sexual dysfunction. It can also reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, or death in people with type 2 diabetes who have known heart disease.

This medicine should be taken orally as directed by your doctor. Before beginning this medicine, inform your doctor about any pre-existing conditions or ongoing medications. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
Do not crush, cut, or chew the tablet.
Try to take this medicine at the same time each day.

Dapanorm Gm2 Forte Tablet 10 may have the following common side effects:

Genital mycotic infections: These are fungal infections that can affect your genital area, such as vaginal yeast infections.
Urinary tract infections
Hypoglycaemia: This refers to low blood sugar, which may cause symptoms like sweating, shakiness, and confusion.
Nausea
Diarrhoea
Headache
Dizziness
Abdominal pain
Nasopharyngitis: This is inflammation of the nasal passages and the back of the throat, commonly known as a cold.

Managing the Side Effects:

Most side effects are temporary and generally harmless, which resolve on discontinuing the use of Dapanorm Gm2 Forte Tablet 10. However, if you experience any serious side effects or worsening symptoms, please consult your doctor.

Nausea: Taking Dapanorm Gm2 Forte Tablet 10 with breakfast or after your morning meal may help reduce this side effect.
Hypoglycaemia: If you experience low blood sugar symptoms, consider taking this medicine consistently with meals at the same time each day.

Dapanorm Gm2 Forte Tablet 10 contains three active ingredients that work together to control blood sugar levels:

Dapagliflozin (10 mg): It inhibits the sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) in the kidneys, preventing filtered glucose reabsorption and increasing urinary glucose excretion, thereby reducing blood sugar levels.
Glimepiride (2 mg): It stimulates pancreatic beta cells to release more insulin, which helps lower blood glucose levels. It also increases peripheral glucose uptake and decreases liver glucose production.
Metformin (1000 mg): This is biguanide that decreases glucose production in the liver, reduces intestinal absorption of glucose, and improves insulin sensitivity by increasing peripheral glucose uptake and utilisation. This helps in effectively lowering blood sugar levels without causing hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar).

Alcohol

Avoid alcohol while taking Dapanorm Gm2 Forte Tablet 10. Alcohol may increase your risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia) and lactic acidosis, a rare but serious condition where lactic acid builds up in your blood.

Liver

This medicine may affect liver function, so it is important to discuss any liver conditions with your doctor before starting treatment.

Kidney

Dapanorm Gm2 Forte Tablet 10 is contraindicated if you have severe kidney problems (with eGFR below 30 mL/min). Your doctor will need to check your kidney function before prescribing this medicine and regularly during treatment.

Using Machines & Driving

Diuretics: When combined with this medicine, water pills like furosemide or hydrochlorothiazide may increase the risk of dehydration and low blood pressure.
Corticosteroids: Medicines like prednisolone or dexamethasone may decrease the blood sugar-lowering effect of Dapanorm Gm2 Forte Tablet 10.
Cationic medicines: Medicines like digoxin, morphine, or trimethoprim may increase the risk of metformin accumulation and lactic acidosis (a dangerous acid buildup in your blood).
