Sodium Citrate (0.67 mg): Sodium citrate, an expectorant, can change the pH of mucus, making it less sticky and thus easier to clear from your child's respiratory tract. Additionally, it has soothing properties that offer some relief to irritated tissues.
Ammonium Chloride (7 mg): As an expectorant, ammonium chloride works by drawing water into the mucus, making it less thick and easier for your child to cough up. It also mildly irritates the lining of the bronchial tubes, stimulating a cough reflex that helps clear out these airways.

Antitussives : If your child is already taking other cough suppressants like dextromethorphan or codeine, using Coscopin Paediatric Suspension concurrently may lead to excessive suppression of the cough reflex. Antidepressants : Noscapine in the medicine can enhance the sedative effects of tricyclic antidepressants, MAO inhibitors and SSRIs such as amitriptyline, phenelzine and fluoxetine respectively. This might make your child feel more drowsy or sleepy.
