Composition

Ethinyl Estradiol (0.03 Mg) + Ferrous Fumarate (60 Mg) + Levonorgestrel (0.15 Mg)

Choice Tablet is used to prevent pregnancy in women of reproductive potential. It is a combination oral contraceptive medicine containing ethinyl estradiol, levonorgestrel, and ferrous fumarate. It belongs to the class of hormonal contraceptives.

This medicine should be taken exactly as prescribed by your doctor. It should be taken regularly and according to the order of tablets provided in the pack to maintain contraceptive effectiveness. It does not protect against sexually transmitted infections, including HIV infection.

Before starting this medicine, inform your doctor if you smoke, are above 35 years of age, or have a history of blood clots, migraine with aura, high blood pressure, diabetes, liver disease, or any other medical condition. Pregnancy prevention: Helps prevent pregnancy when taken as prescribed by your doctor.

Take Choice Tablet exactly as directed by your doctor.
Follow the order of tablets mentioned on the pack.
Swallow the tablet whole with water.
Do not skip tablets, as missed doses may reduce contraceptive effectiveness.

Choice Tablet is taken orally.

Choice Tablet may cause some side effects that are usually mild and go away as your body adjusts to the medicine.

A few common side effects of Choice Tablet:

Digestive System: Nausea and abdominal pain.
Reproductive System: Irregular bleeding or spotting between periods, and breast tenderness.
Nervous System: Headache.

If any side effect does not improve or becomes serious, speak to your doctor.

Management Of Side Effects:

Many side effects are mild and may improve as your body adjusts to the medicine. If any side effect is persistent, severe or worsening, consult your doctor. Do not stop taking Choice Tablet without medical advice unless you suspect a serious adverse reaction and require urgent medical attention.

Headache: Rest in a quiet, comfortable environment and use a cold compress if needed to help relieve discomfort.
Nausea: Eat smaller, frequent meals and avoid foods that may worsen nausea.
Breast tenderness: Wearing a supportive bra may help reduce discomfort.

Choice Tablet contains the following active ingredients:

Ethinyl Estradiol (0.03 mg): A synthetic oestrogen that suppresses the release of reproductive hormones involved in ovulation, helping regulate hormonal activity associated with the menstrual cycle.
Levonorgestrel (0.15 mg): A synthetic progestin that suppresses ovulation and causes changes in cervical mucus and the uterine lining, which reduce the chances of fertilisation and implantation.
Ferrous Fumarate (60 mg): An iron-containing ingredient in the non-hormonal tablets that provides iron during the tablet-free/hormone-free part of the regimen. It does not contribute to contraceptive action.

Pregnancy

Do not take Choice Tablet if you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant. Inform your doctor if you become pregnant while using this medicine.

Breastfeeding

Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding before taking Choice Tablet. Your doctor will decide whether this medicine is suitable for you, as hormonal contraceptives may affect milk supply in some women, especially during early breastfeeding.

Alcohol

Drug-Drug Interactions

Choice Tablet may interact with the following medicines:

Anti-diabetic medicines (e.g., insulin, metformin, sulfonylureas): Combined hormonal contraceptives may affect blood glucose control in some women. Your doctor may monitor blood sugar levels and adjust antidiabetic medications as needed.
Anti-tubercular medicines (e.g., rifampicin, rifabutin): These medicines may reduce the effectiveness of Choice Tablet by decreasing contraceptive hormone levels in the body, which may increase the risk of unintended pregnancy.
Enzyme-inducing medicines used for epilepsy (e.g., carbamazepine, phenytoin, phenobarbital and primidone): These medicines may lower contraceptive hormone levels and reduce the effectiveness of Choice Tablet. Additional or alternative contraception may be required.
Lamotrigine: Combined hormonal contraceptives may reduce lamotrigine concentrations and may affect seizure control. Tell your doctor if you take lamotrigine.
Certain hepatitis C antiviral combinations: Some combinations containing ombitasvir/paritaprevir/ritonavir, with or without dasabuvir, are contraindicated or may interact with ethinyl estradiol-containing contraceptives because of the risk of significant liver enzyme elevations. Tell your doctor about all hepatitis C medicines you take.
St John’s wort (a herbal medicine): This medicine may reduce the effectiveness of Choice Tablet by lowering contraceptive hormone levels.

Drug-Disease Interactions

Choice Tablet interacts with the following diseases:

History of blood clots or clotting disorders: This medicine may increase the risk of blood clot formation and may not be suitable for women with certain clotting conditions.
Migraine with aura: Combined hormonal contraceptives may increase the risk of stroke in some women with migraine with aura.
Breast cancer: Hormonal contraceptives may not be suitable in women with current or previous breast cancer.
Diabetes with vascular complications: Women with diabetes-related blood vessel problems may require careful evaluation before using combined hormonal contraceptives.

Take Choice Tablet exactly as directed by your doctor. Start the pack on the day indicated on the pack and take one tablet daily at the same time each day, following the order of tablets provided. Complete all 28 tablets in the pack and start the next pack immediately after finishing the previous one, as advised by your doctor. Do not skip tablets or change the dosing schedule without consulting your doctor.

Over Dose

Taking more tablets than prescribed may increase the risk of side effects. If you accidentally take extra tablets or suspect an overdose, contact your doctor for advice.

Missed Dose

If you miss a tablet of Choice Tablet, take it as soon as you remember and continue taking the remaining tablets at the usual time. If two or more active hormonal tablets are missed or taken late, follow the missed-dose instructions provided with the pack, as additional contraceptive measures may be required depending on when the tablets were missed. If reminder tablets containing ferrous fumarate are missed, follow the instructions provided with the pack and continue the next scheduled tablet. Consult your doctor if you are unsure about how to manage a missed tablet.

Store Choice Tablet at room temperature as advised on the product packaging.
Keep the tablets in the original packaging until use.
Protect the medicine from moisture and direct sunlight.
Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
