CAP SR CAPSULE 10 is used for the following:

• Managing chronic simple (open-angle) glaucoma, secondary glaucoma, and preoperatively in acute angle closure glaucoma, a condition that increases pressure within the eye, leading to possible vision loss.
• Controlling fluid retention (oedema) in the body by increasing the urinary excretion of water and certain electrolytes.
• Helping manage epilepsy by controlling abnormal neuronal discharge.
• Preventing altitude sickness, a condition that can cause symptoms like headache, nausea, and dizziness in individuals who ascend to high altitudes quickly.

Here's how you should take CAP SR CAPSULE 10:

• Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water.
• Do not crush or chew the capsule.
• This medicine can be taken with or without food as directed by your doctor.
• Ensure you do not exceed the recommended dose without consulting your doctor.
• It's important not to stop taking this medicine without speaking to your doctor first.

CAP SR CAPSULE 10 is taken orally.

CAP SR CAPSULE 10 contains Acetazolamide (250 mg), which acts on your body as follows:

• Reduces Intraocular Pressure: Acetazolamide inhibits an enzyme called carbonic anhydrase in your eyes, which leads to a decrease in the secretion of aqueous humour or eye fluid. This action helps reduce intraocular pressure and manage glaucoma.
• Controls Epileptic Seizures: By inhibiting carbonic anhydrase in the central nervous system, acetazolamide retards abnormal, excessive discharge from neurons, thus controlling epileptic seizures.
• Manages Fluid Retention: The medicine's effect on the kidneys enhances the excretion of water, sodium, potassium, and bicarbonate. This action aids in managing oedema or fluid retention in body tissues.
