Bleowel 15 IU Injection 1 is used for the following:

• Treatment of Hodgkin's lymphoma

• Managing non-Hodgkin's lymphoma

• Treating testicular cancer

• Managing cervical cancer

• Treatment of head and neck cancers

• Managing squamous cell carcinomas of the skin

• Treating ovarian cancer

• Managing malignant pleural effusions

• Treatment of oral cavity carcinomas

• Managing nasopharyngeal cancer

• Treating laryngeal cancer

• Managing oesophageal cancer

Follow these instructions when Bleowel 15 IU Injection 1 is administered:

• This medicine must only be given by a healthcare professional in a clinical setting.

• The powder in the vial needs to be mixed with sterile water before use.

• The injection may be given through different routes as determined by your doctor.

• Keep all appointments for your treatment sessions.

• Inform your doctor about any breathing problems or unusual symptoms you experience.

• Always consult your doctor for specific advice about your treatment plan.

Bleowel 15 IU Injection 1 is administered intravenously, intramuscularly, subcutaneously, or intrapleurally.

Bleowel 15 IU Injection 1 contains bleomycin (15 IU), which works on the body as follows:

• DNA damage: Bleomycin binds to DNA and creates breaks in the DNA strands, preventing cancer cells from multiplying.

• Cell cycle disruption: It primarily affects cancer cells during the G2 and M phases of the cell cycle, stopping the growth of rapidly dividing cells.

• Free radical production: Bleomycin combines with iron to create harmful molecules called free radicals that damage the DNA of cancer cells.

• RNA and protein synthesis inhibition: It interferes with the creation of RNA and proteins that cancer cells need to survive and grow.

• Sclerosing activity: When used for pleural effusions, it causes inflammation and scarring in the space around the lungs, preventing fluid from collecting again.

• Store unopened vials of Bleowel 15 IU Injection 1 in a refrigerator at 2-8°C.

• Protect the medicine from freezing.

• Keep the vials away from direct light exposure.

• Store all medicines out of children's reach.

• Do not use Bleowel 15 IU Injection 1 after its expiry date.

• Dispose of unused portions according to proper cytotoxic waste guidelines.

• While receiving cancer treatment with Bleowel 15 IU Injection 1, maintain a protein-rich diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables to help your body recover from chemotherapy sessions and support your immune system.

• Practise good hygiene and avoid crowds during treatment periods, as bleomycin may lower your white blood cell count (cells that fight infections), making you more vulnerable to infections.
