Bilclav Duo 200/28.5 Mg Suspension 120 Ml is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections in children, including infections of the ear, nose, throat, lower respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin and soft tissues. It is a combination medicine containing amoxicillin (a penicillin antibiotic) and clavulanic acid (which protects amoxicillin from being broken down by bacteria), and belongs to a class of medicines called penicillin antibiotic and beta-lactamase inhibitor combinations.
This medicine works by killing bacteria or stopping them from multiplying, while clavulanic acid helps it work against bacteria that would otherwise resist amoxicillin. Give it exactly as your child's doctor prescribes and shake the bottle well before each dose. Always complete the full course even if your child starts feeling better.
This antibiotic is not effective against viral infections such as colds or flu, and unnecessary use can make antibiotics less effective for future bacterial infections (antibiotic resistance). Encourage your child to drink plenty of fluids while recovering.
Before giving this medicine, tell your child's doctor if your child has any allergy, especially to penicillin or other antibiotics, or a history of colitis, liver problems or kidney problems. Contact your child's doctor promptly if your child has severe or persistent diarrhoea.
