Bactizole Cf 200/200 Mg Tablet 10 is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections of the respiratory tract, urinary tract and other parts of the body. It is a combination medicine containing cefixime (a cephalosporin antibiotic) and ofloxacin (a fluoroquinolone antibiotic), and belongs to classes of medicines called cephalosporin and fluoroquinolone antibiotics.
This medicine works by stopping bacteria from building their cell walls (cefixime) and from copying their DNA (ofloxacin), so together they stop bacteria growing across a broad range of infections. It only works on bacterial infections and not on viral infections such as colds or flu. Take it exactly as prescribed, and complete the full course even if you feel better, to reduce the risk of antibiotic resistance.
Avoid strong sunlight and use sun protection, as the fluoroquinolone can make your skin more sensitive to light. Allow a gap of at least 2 hours between this medicine and antacids or dairy products.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have tendon problems, seizures, kidney conditions, or an allergy to cephalosporin or penicillin antibiotics. Stop the medicine and contact your doctor straight away if you have tendon pain or swelling.
