Azpil 500 Tablet is used to treat bacterial infections of the respiratory tract, skin and certain sexually transmitted infections such as gonorrhoea. It contains azithromycin, a macrolide antibiotic that helps control the infection and relieve symptoms such as fever, pain and swelling.
Take this tablet as prescribed, with or without food, and swallow it whole with water. Complete the full course of treatment even if you start to feel better, as stopping early can allow the infection to return and increase the risk of antibiotic resistance.
Since this medicine is usually prescribed as a short course, supportive care matters most: rest, drink plenty of fluids, and avoid sharing towels or personal items if you have a skin infection. Practise safe sex if you are being treated for a sexually transmitted infection, as your partner may also need treatment.
Before starting, tell your doctor if you have liver or heart problems, an irregular heartbeat, or are taking other medicines, as azithromycin can interact with certain drugs. Seek medical advice if you develop severe diarrhoea, a fast or irregular heartbeat, or a skin rash. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
