Axiglim M2 Tablet 10 is used for the following:

• Managing blood glucose levels in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus

• Enhancing the effect of diet and exercise in controlling blood sugar levels

• Supporting glycemic control when monotherapy with either glimepiride or metformin does not adequately manage blood sugar

• Delaying or preventing long-term complications of diabetes like kidney damage, blindness, nerve problems, loss of limbs, and heart disease

1. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

2. Do not crush, chew, or split the tablet.

3. It is important to maintain a regular meal pattern and avoid skipping meals.

Axiglim M2 Tablet 10 is taken orally.

Axiglim M2 Tablet 10 contains two active ingredients:

• Glimepiride (2 mg): As a sulfonylurea, glimepiride stimulates insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells. It does so by binding to sulfonylurea receptors on these cells, closing ATP-sensitive potassium channels. This action leads to cell membrane depolarization and an influx of calcium, resulting in increased insulin secretion.

• Metformin (500 mg): As a biguanide, metformin reduces glucose production by the liver and delays glucose absorption from the intestines. It does this by activating AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK), a liver enzyme that plays a key role in insulin signalling and glucose metabolism. This enhances insulin sensitivity and increases peripheral glucose uptake and utilization.

These two components work in complementary ways to effectively lower blood sugar levels.
