Averride M 2/500 MG Tablet 10 contains two active ingredients:

• Glimepiride (2 mg): As a sulfonylurea, glimepiride stimulates insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells. It does so by binding to sulfonylurea receptors on these cells, closing ATP-sensitive potassium channels. This action leads to cell membrane depolarization and an influx of calcium, resulting in increased insulin secretion.

• Metformin (500 mg): As a biguanide, metformin reduces glucose production by the liver and delays glucose absorption from the intestines. It does this by activating AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK), a liver enzyme that plays a key role in insulin signalling and glucose metabolism.
