Asginase 5000 IU Injection is used for the following:

Asginase 5000 IU Injection is administered intravenously.

Asginase 5000 IU Injection contains asparaginase (5000 IU), which works on the body as follows:

• Enzymatic breakdown of asparagine: Asparaginase catalyses the breakdown of asparagine, an amino acid that is essential for protein synthesis in certain cancer cells.

• Selective cancer cell starvation: Unlike healthy cells that can produce their own asparagine, many leukaemic cells depend entirely on external sources of this amino acid. By depleting circulating asparagine levels, the medicine effectively starves cancer cells.

• Prevention of cancer cell growth: Without access to asparagine, cancer cells cannot synthesise the proteins they need for growth and multiplication, which leads to their death.

• Minimal impact on healthy cells: This selective action causes minimal damage to normal cells, as they retain their ability to synthesise asparagine internally, allowing them to continue functioning properly.

• Store Asginase 5000 IU Injection in a refrigerator between 2 and 8 degrees Celsius.
