Apderm 0.1 % Cream 5 GM

Apderm 0.1 % Cream 5 GM is used for the following:

• Treatment of atopic dermatitis (eczema)

• Management of allergic skin reactions

• Relief of contact eczema

• Control of inflammatory skin conditions

• Short-term management of limited plaque psoriasis

• Reducing inflammation in corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses

• Easing itchy skin rashes

• Calming red, inflamed patches of skin

Follow these instructions when applying Apderm 0.1 % Cream 5 GM:

• Ensure the affected skin area is clean and dry before application.

• Apply a thin layer of cream to the affected area.

• Gently massage the cream into the skin until it is absorbed.

• Wash your hands thoroughly after application, unless you are treating the hands.

• Avoid covering the treated area with airtight dressings unless advised by your doctor.

• Do not apply near the eyes, mouth, or on broken skin.

• Continue using the cream as advised by your doctor.

Apderm 0.1 % Cream 5 GM is applied topically.

Apderm 0.1 % Cream 5 GM contains methylprednisolone (0.1%), which works on the body as follows:

• Skin activation: Methylprednisolone is applied as an inactive form that becomes active after penetrating the skin, where it is converted to its active metabolite that binds to glucocorticoid receptors in cells.

• Anti-inflammatory action: It reduces inflammation by increasing the production of lipocortins, which suppress phospholipase A2, an enzyme involved in producing inflammatory substances in the body.

• Cytokine suppression: The medicine decreases the production of cytokines, which are proteins that signal inflammation, thereby reducing redness and swelling in affected skin areas.

• Vasoconstriction effect: It narrows blood vessels in the skin (vasoconstriction), which helps reduce redness, swelling, and heat in inflamed areas.

• Cell proliferation reduction: The medicine slows down the excessive growth of skin cells, which is particularly useful in conditions like psoriasis, where skin cells multiply too quickly.

• Keep the tube tightly closed after each use.

• Protect from direct sunlight and freezing temperatures.

• Store away from moisture and heat sources.

• Keep out of reach of children.

• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the packaging.

• For eczema and dermatitis, avoid known skin irritants such as harsh soaps, detergents, and fabric softeners that may trigger flare-ups of your skin condition.
