Amoclav 625 Tablet is used to treat bacterial infections of the chest, ears, sinuses, urinary tract, skin and soft tissues. It is a combination medicine containing amoxicillin (a penicillin antibiotic), clavulanic acid (which helps amoxicillin work against resistant bacteria) and Lactobacillus (a probiotic).
The probiotic is added to help support the natural balance of gut bacteria during antibiotic treatment. Take the tablet at the start of a meal, which helps absorption and reduces stomach upset. Complete the full course prescribed by your doctor, even if you feel better early.
Resting and drinking enough fluids can support recovery. Taking antibiotics only when prescribed helps reduce antibiotic resistance.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you are allergic to penicillin or any other antibiotic, have had jaundice or liver problems with amoxicillin and clavulanic acid before, have glandular fever, or have kidney problems, and about other medicines you take. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Seek medical help straight away if you develop a severe rash, swelling of the face or throat, breathing difficulty, or severe or bloody diarrhoea. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
