Ambrolite-S Syrup is used to relieve a cough with mucus when the airways are also narrowed, such as in bronchitis and asthma. It is a combination respiratory medicine containing ambroxol (a mucolytic), guaifenesin (an expectorant), terbutaline (a bronchodilator) and menthol.
This medicine is also used to ease wheezing, chest tightness and breathing difficulty linked to excess mucus. It thins and loosens phlegm so it is easier to cough up, relaxes the airway muscles to make breathing easier, and menthol soothes the throat. Shake the bottle well and measure each dose with the cup provided, taking it as prescribed by your doctor.
Drinking plenty of fluids keeps mucus thin and easier to clear. Avoiding smoking, dust, cold air and chemical fumes can reduce airway irritation.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have heart disease, a fast or irregular heartbeat, high blood pressure, an overactive thyroid, diabetes, a stomach ulcer or epilepsy, and about other medicines you take.
