Acarbose (25 Mg) + Metformin (500 Mg)

Acarjohn M Tablet is used for:

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: Helps control high blood sugar levels and reduces the risk of diabetic complications.
Postprandial Hyperglycemia: Prevents sudden spikes in blood sugar after meals.

Take the tablet orally with meals, preferably with the first bite of food.
Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew it.
Follow the dosage and schedule as prescribed by your doctor.
Do not stop taking the medication without consulting your doctor.

Acarjohn M Tablet is taken orally.

Common side effects of Acarjohn M Tablet include:

Nausea
Diarrhoea
Abdominal pain
Flatulence

Management Of Side Effects:

Most of the side effects are temporary and generally harmless, which resolve on discontinuing Acarjohn M Tablet. However, if you experience severe side effects or worsening symptoms, please consult your doctor.

Nausea & abdominal pain: Take the medicine with food and avoid greasy or heavy meals.
Diarrhea: Stay hydrated and consume light meals.
Flatulence: Eat smaller meals and avoid gas-producing foods (beans, cabbage, carbonated drinks).
Hypoglycemia: Carry glucose tablets or sweets if you experience symptoms like dizziness or sweating.

Acarjohn M Tablet contains two active ingredients:

Acarbose (25 mg): An alpha-glucosidase inhibitor that slows down carbohydrate breakdown in the intestines, thereby reducing post-meal blood sugar spikes.
Metformin (500 mg): A biguanide that decreases glucose production in the liver, improves insulin sensitivity and reduces glucose absorption in the intestines

Pregnancy

Acarjohn M Tablet should be used in pregnancy only if prescribed by a doctor. Alternative medications may be preferred.

Breastfeeding

Acarjohn M Tablet passes into breast milk in small amounts. Consult your doctor before using this medication if you are breastfeeding.

Alcohol

Alcohol consumption with Acarjohn M Tablet can increase the risk of lactic acidosis and hypoglycemia. Avoid or limit alcohol intake.

Liver

Use Acarjohn M Tablet with caution in patients with liver impairment. Liver function tests should be monitored regularly. Inform your doctor before this tablet is prescribed to you.

Kidney

Acarjohn M Tablet is not recommended in severe kidney disease due to the risk of lactic acidosis. Kidney function should be monitored periodically.

Use In Driving And Operating Machinery

Acarjohn M Tablet does not usually affect alertness. However, if you experience dizziness or hypoglycemia, avoid driving or operating heavy machinery.

Allergy

Do not take Acarjohn M Tablet if you are allergic to acarbose, metformin, or any inactive ingredients in the formulation.

Children

Acarjohn M Tablet is not recommended for children under 12 years.

Older Patients

Older adults are more prone to side effects, especially kidney-related complications. Dose adjustments may be required.

Insulin & Sulfonylureas (e.g., glipizide, glyburide): The concomitant use can increase the risk of hypoglycemia.

Daily Dose

Over Dose
