Valate Cr 500 MG Tablet 10 is used to control and prevent epileptic seizures, to manage manic episodes in bipolar disorder, and to prevent migraines in adults.
It contains valproate (500 mg), an anti-epileptic and mood-stabilising medicine. Take it with food as prescribed, and do not stop it suddenly, as this can trigger seizures.
Routine blood tests monitor valproate levels and check liver function; keep all monitoring appointments.
Tell your doctor about any liver problems before starting, and about all other medicines you take, as valproate has many drug interactions. This medicine must not be used in pregnancy unless there is no other option: it carries a serious risk of birth defects and developmental problems. Women and girls who could become pregnant must use effective contraception and be part of a pregnancy prevention programme. Report any signs of liver problems (nausea, jaundice, unusual tiredness), unusual bleeding, or hair loss that concerns you.
