Podowal 200 DT Tablet is used for managing respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, sexually transmitted diseases such as gonorrhoea, and acute otitis media.

Uses of Podowal 200 DT Tablet are:

• Respiratory Tract Infections: Treats bronchitis, pneumonia, tonsillitis, pharyngitis, and sinusitis.
• Urinary Tract Infections: Treats cystitis and pyelonephritis.
• Skin and Soft Tissue Infections: Treats cellulitis, wound infections, and abscesses.
• Sexually Transmitted Diseases and Ear Infections: Treats gonorrhoea, cervicitis, and acute otitis media.

• Swallow the whole tablet with a glass of water.
• Avoid crushing or chewing the tablet.

Podowal 200 Dt Tablet 10 contains cefpodoxime proxetil (200 mg), which works in the body as follows:

• Inhibits cell wall synthesis: Cefpodoxime disrupts the production of the peptidoglycan layer of bacterial cell walls, which provides strength and rigidity to the cells.
• Binds to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs): PBPs are enzymes involved in assembling the peptidoglycan layer. Cefpodoxime binds to these proteins, effectively inhibiting their function.
• Induces cell lysis: By weakening the peptidoglycan layer through PBP inhibition, cefpodoxime causes bacterial cells to rupture or lyse due to internal pressure.
• Broad spectrum action: Unlike earlier cephalosporins, cefpodoxime is effective against a wider range of gram-negative bacteria due to its stability in the presence of many beta-lactamases.
