CompositionPiprataz 4.5gm Injection is used to treat moderate to severe bacterial infections, including those of the lungs, urinary tract and soft tissues. It is a combination antibiotic containing piperacillin, a broad-spectrum penicillin, and tazobactam, a beta-lactamase inhibitor.
Tazobactam protects piperacillin from being broken down by bacterial enzymes, so together they remain effective against resistant strains of both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. This medicine is used for conditions such as hospital-acquired pneumonia, intra-abdominal infections, gynaecological infections, bloodstream infections, bone and joint infections, complicated urinary tract infections and skin infections. It is given by a healthcare professional, usually into a vein.
Your care team will monitor your response to treatment and may check your kidney function during the course.
