Perepsy 2 Tablet 7

PEREPSY 2 TABLET 7 is used for the following:

• Controlling partial-onset seizures in adults

• Managing primary generalised tonic-clonic seizures

• Reducing the frequency of epileptic seizures

• Preventing secondary generalisation of seizures

• Add-on therapy with other anti-seizure medicines

• Stabilising electrical activity in the brain

• Decreasing abnormal brain activity causing seizures

• Helping patients with drug-resistant epilepsy

• Supporting daily functioning in epilepsy patients

Follow these instructions while taking PEREPSY 2 TABLET 7:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Take this medicine at bedtime as your doctor has advised.

• You can take this medicine with or without food.

• Do not crush, chew or break the tablet.

• Take this medicine at the same time each day.

• Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly without consulting your doctor.

• Consult your doctor if you have questions about using this medicine.

PEREPSY 2 TABLET 7 is taken orally.

PEREPSY 2 TABLET 7 contains Perampanel (2 mg), which works on the body as follows:

• AMPA receptor antagonism: Perampanel acts as a selective, non-competitive antagonist of the α-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazolepropionic acid (AMPA) glutamate receptors in the brain. These receptors are important for transmitting signals between nerve cells.

• Reduced neuronal excitation: By blocking AMPA receptors on post-synaptic neurons, perampanel reduces the excitability of nerve cells in the brain. This helps prevent the excessive electrical activity that can trigger seizures.

• Seizure prevention: Through its action on glutamate signalling, perampanel stabilises electrical activity in the brain and prevents the abnormal firing of neurons that occurs during a seizure episode.

• Store PEREPSY 2 TABLET 7 in its original package at room temperature below 30°C.

• Keep the tablets dry and away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture.

• Do not refrigerate or freeze the medicine.

• Always keep out of reach of children.

• Check the expiry date and do not use if the medicine has expired.

• Maintain a regular sleep schedule with adequate rest, as sleep deprivation can trigger epileptic seizures in some people.
