NovoNorm 1 mg Tablet is used for the following:

• Assisting in the management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: This medicine helps to control blood sugar levels when diet and exercise alone aren't enough.

• Complementing metformin therapy: NovoNorm 1 mg Tablet can be used alongside metformin when diet, exercise, and metformin alone do not provide sufficient control over blood sugar levels.

To get the most benefit from NovoNorm 1 mg Tablet, you should follow these guidelines:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew it.

• Always take this medicine around 15-30 minutes before eating your main meal. You can take it as early as 30 minutes before a meal or as late as immediately before the meal.

• If you skip a meal, remember to skip the corresponding dose of this medicine too.

NovoNorm 1 mg Tablet is taken orally.

NovoNorm 1 mg Tablet contains Repaglinide (1 mg). This active ingredient works in the following ways:

• Stimulates Insulin Secretion: Repaglinide stimulates the pancreas to produce more insulin, particularly in response to meals. This helps to lower the level of glucose in the blood after meals.

• Binds to ATP-dependent Potassium Channels: By binding to these channels on the pancreatic beta-cell membrane, Repaglinide reduces potassium conductance, leading to depolarisation of the beta cells. This results in the opening of calcium channels.

• Triggers Calcium Ion Influx: The depolarisation causes an influx of calcium ions. This, in turn, stimulates the secretion of insulin, helping to manage blood glucose levels.
