Novonorm 0.5mg Tablet is used for the following:

Novonorm 0.5mg Tablet contains repaglinide (0.5 mg), which works on the body as follows:

• Closes potassium channels: It blocks ATP-dependent potassium channels in the pancreatic beta cells, which leads to cell membrane depolarisation and triggers insulin release.

• Facilitates calcium influx: The blocking of potassium channels causes calcium to flow into the pancreatic beta cells, which is a crucial step in the process of insulin secretion.

• Glucose-dependent action: Repaglinide primarily works when your blood glucose levels are elevated, which helps reduce the risk of hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar) between meals.
