MONOCARD 20 MG TABLET 10 is used to help prevent angina (chest pain) in people with coronary heart disease, where the blood supply to the heart is reduced. It is also used in the ongoing management of coronary heart disease and certain types of pulmonary hypertension.
It contains isosorbide mononitrate, a nitrate that relaxes and widens blood vessels, improving blood and oxygen flow to the heart. Take it regularly as prescribed to prevent angina; it is not for relieving a sudden attack, for which your doctor may give a separate fast-acting nitrate.
Pacing your activity, quitting smoking and eating a heart-healthy diet support your heart alongside this medicine.
Tell your doctor about any low blood pressure or recent heart attack before starting, and about other medicines you take, especially those for erectile problems, which must not be combined with nitrates. Report fainting, severe headache or a fast heartbeat.
