It contains metoprolol succinate, a beta-blocker, in an extended-release form. It works by slowing the heart rate and reducing its workload, giving steady effect through the day.
Take it at the same time each day, and do not stop it suddenly, as beta-blockers must be reduced gradually to avoid a rebound worsening of heart conditions.
Tell your doctor about any asthma or breathing problems, a slow heart rate, severe circulation problems or diabetes before use, as it can mask the warning signs of low blood sugar. Report a very slow pulse, breathlessness, or cold hands and feet.
