Lumigan 0.01% Eye Drop is an ophthalmic solution containing bimatoprost, used to lower elevated intraocular pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. It works by increasing the outflow of fluid from the eye, thereby reducing pressure and helping to prevent optic nerve damage. It belongs to the prostaglandin analogues class of medications.
If you wear contact lenses, refrain from wearing them during the course of this medication. You can put your contact lenses back approximately 15 minutes after applying the eye drops.
Before using these eye drops, tell your doctor if you've had any eye surgery (like cataract surgery) as a precaution. Also, inform your doctor if you have eye infections or any underlying heart conditions, such as low blood pressure or a slow heart rate. This way, your doctor can make the best recommendations for your eye care.
