Glizid-M XR 60 Tablet is used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus, a condition marked by insulin resistance or insufficient insulin production. It is a combination medicine containing gliclazide and metformin, and belongs to the classes of sulphonylureas and biguanides.
Gliclazide stimulates insulin release from the pancreas around meals, while metformin reduces how much glucose the liver releases and helps the body's cells use insulin more effectively, lowering blood sugar through complementary actions. Take this modified-release tablet with a meal, swallowed whole without crushing or chewing, at the same time each day. Follow your recommended diet and exercise plan alongside this medicine. Use the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor.
A balanced diet, regular physical activity and a healthy weight support blood sugar control alongside this medicine.
Tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver disease or heart failure before starting this medicine, and mention any planned surgery or contrast imaging, as metformin may need to be paused temporarily, and about any other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. Speak to your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding. Watch for symptoms of low blood sugar, such as sweating or shakiness, and carry a fast-acting sugar source. Report any side effects that persist or become serious. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
