Gatiquin 0.3 % Eye Ointment 5 GM is used to treat bacterial eye infections, including conjunctivitis caused by Haemophilus influenzae, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Streptococcus mitis group, Streptococcus oralis, and Streptococcus pneumoniae. It helps control infection, reduce eye irritation, and promote recovery.

To apply Gatiquin 0.3 % Eye Ointment 5 GM correctly, proceed as follows:

• Make sure your hands are clean before handling the ointment.
• Tilt your head back and gently pull down your lower eyelid to make a small pocket.
• Apply a small strip of the ointment into this eyelid pocket.
• Close your eyes for a minute or two to let the medicine spread across your eye's surface.
• Be careful not to touch your eyes or any other surface with the tip of the tube to prevent contamination.

Gatiquin 0.3 % Eye Ointment 5 GM contains Gatifloxacin (0.3%), which performs several actions in your body:

• Inhibits Enzymes: Gatifloxacin works by blocking two vital enzymes in bacterial cells: DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV. These enzymes are essential for various key functions like replication and repair of bacterial DNA.
• Interrupts Bacterial Growth: By inhibiting these enzymes, gatifloxacin obstructs the synthesis of bacterial DNA. This interruption in growth processes leads to the death of the bacterial cells, thus managing the infection in your eyes.

• Store Gatiquin 0.3 % Eye Ointment 5 GM at room temperature in a cool and dark place.
• Keep it away from direct sunlight and moisture.
• Always ensure the ointment tube is tightly closed when not in use.
• Keep the ointment out of reach of children to prevent accidental ingestion or application.
• Use within one month after opening the tube.
