CompositionDutamax 0.025% Lotion is a medicine applied to the scalp, used to manage male pattern baldness, particularly hair loss in the crown and frontal areas. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing dutasteride, and belongs to a class of medicines called 5-alpha reductase inhibitors.
This medicine works by blocking the enzyme that converts testosterone into dihydrotestosterone, the hormone that shrinks hair follicles, which helps slow hair loss and support regrowth. Apply it to the scalp as your doctor directs, usually once daily, and wash your hands afterwards. Keep it away from the eyes and mucous membranes.
Visible improvement takes several months of regular daily use. Hair loss may return if treatment is stopped.
Before using this medicine, tell your doctor if you have any skin or scalp problems or take other medicines. Women who are or may become pregnant should not handle this product, as dutasteride can be absorbed through the skin and the medicine is contraindicated in pregnancy.
