Dacogen 50 MG Injection contains decitabine (50 mg), which works on the body in several ways:

• Hypomethylating action: Decitabine prevents excessive methylation (a chemical process) of DNA in cancer cells, which helps reactivate genes that control normal cell growth and development.

• DNA incorporation: The medicine integrates into DNA strands during cell replication, interfering with the abnormal processes in cancer cells.

• Inhibition of DNA methyltransferases: Decitabine blocks specific enzymes called DNA methyltransferases that are involved in the abnormal methylation process in cancer cells.

• Promotion of cellular differentiation: The medicine helps immature blood cells in the bone marrow develop into normal, healthy blood cells rather than remaining as abnormal cells.

• Cytotoxic effects: Decitabine directly damages rapidly dividing cancer cells, contributing to its effectiveness against blood cancers.
