Cosalic 3/6 % Ointment 100 GM

Cosalic Ointment is used for the following:

• Managing psoriasis vulgaris: This is a skin condition causing red, flaky, crusty patches of skin covered with silvery scales.

• Control of seborrheic dermatitis: This condition involves a red, itchy rash on the scalp and nearby skin.

• Management of hyperkeratotic dermatoses: These are conditions characterised by excessive growth and thickening of the outer layer of skin.

• Controlling chronic atopic dermatitis: This is a long-term inflammation of the skin causing itchy, red, and swollen.

• Relief from lichen simplex chronicus: It is a skin disorder that leads to thickened, itchy areas of the skin.

• Managing ichthyosis: This condition causes dry, scaly skin resembling fish scales.

• Follow the dosage and timing instructions provided by your doctor precisely.

• Do not change or exceed the prescribed dose without consulting your doctor.

• Consult your doctor before discontinuing the medication; do not stop taking it without their guidance.

• Adhere to the dietary recommendations given by your doctor.

Cosalic Ointment is applied topically.

Cosalic Ointment contains two active ingredients:

• Coal Tar (6%): It has keratoplastic and anti-pruritic properties, which help to slow down the rapid growth of skin cells, reducing scaling, itching, and inflammation associated with conditions like psoriasis and seborrheic dermatitis.

• Salicylic Acid (3%): It is a keratolytic agent that helps to exfoliate the skin by softening and shedding the outer layer of dead skin cells, enhancing the penetration of coal tar, and promoting the removal of scales and plaques.

• Store Cosalic Ointment at room temperature, ideally below 25°C.

• Keep it away from direct heat and light.

• Make sure the ointment is kept tightly closed when not in use.

• Always keep this medicine out of reach of children.

• Use the ointment before the expiry date printed on the pack.

• If you're managing psoriasis, try to include omega-3 rich foods like fish, flaxseeds, and walnuts in your diet. These can help reduce inflammation associated with psoriasis.

• Sunlight can have a beneficial effect on psoriasis. Soak up some early morning or late afternoon sun, but remember to avoid peak sunlight hours and always use sunscreen as Cosalic Ointment can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight.
