Convulex Er 250 MG Tablet Er 10 is used for the following:

• Treatment of epilepsy and seizure disorders

• Management of bipolar disorder manic episodes

• Prevention of migraine headaches

• Controlling aggression in ADHD

• Stabilising mood swings

• Calming overactive brain activity

• Restoring neurotransmitter balance in the brain

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Take this medicine at the same time each day.

• You can take it with or without food.

• Do not crush, break or chew the tablet.

• Continue taking this medicine even if you feel well.

• Never stop taking this medicine suddenly without consulting your doctor.

• If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it's almost time for your next dose.

Convulex Er 250 MG Tablet Er 10 contains sodium valproate/valproic acid (250 mg), which works on the body as follows:

• GABA enhancement: Valproic acid increases the levels of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), a natural calming chemical in the brain that reduces excessive electrical activity between nerve cells.

• Sodium channel blockade: It blocks sodium channels in brain cells, which helps prevent the rapid firing of neurons that can lead to seizures.

• Glutamate inhibition: The medicine reduces the effects of glutamate, an excitatory neurotransmitter that can trigger seizures when present in excessive amounts.

• Membrane stabilisation: Valproic acid helps stabilise cell membranes in the brain, making them less likely to participate in the abnormal electrical activity that causes seizures and mood disturbances.

• Store Convulex Er 250 MG Tablet Er 10 tablets at room temperature.

• Keep away from direct light and moisture.

• Store in the original container with the lid tightly closed.

• Keep out of reach of children.

• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the package.

• Dispose of unused or expired medicine properly as directed by your pharmacist.

• Maintain regular sleep patterns: Irregular sleep can trigger seizures and worsen symptoms of bipolar disorder. Try to go to bed and wake up at the same time each day.

• Limit alcohol consumption: Alcohol can reduce the effectiveness of sodium valproate and increase side effects like drowsiness and dizziness.
