Composition

Benzocaine (1 %) + Chloramphenicol (5 %)

Biomycetin Ear Drops 5ml is used to treat bacterial infections of the outer ear and the pain associated with them. It contains a combination of an antibiotic, a local numbing agent and a moisturising agent.

These ear drops are meant for use in the ear only. Complete the full course of treatment as prescribed by your doctor, even if your symptoms improve early, to make sure the infection clears fully.

Keeping the ear dry, avoiding inserting cotton buds or other objects into the ear canal, and not swimming until the infection has cleared can help support recovery alongside this medicine.

Tell your doctor about any allergy to these ear drops or their ingredients, existing conditions, or other medicines you are taking before starting treatment. Report any side effects to your doctor promptly.

Biomycetin Ear Drops 5ml is used for the treatment of bacterial infection of the outer ear, helping clear the infection and relieve associated ear pain and discomfort.

Uses of Biomycetin Ear Drops 5ml are:

Outer Ear Infection: Treats bacterial infection of the external ear canal.

Hold the bottle in your hand for one or two minutes to warm the solution. Shake the bottle well.
Gently squeeze the bottle and instil one or two drops of solution in the ear.
Press the skin flap in the ear and lie down for 60 seconds to let the medication enter the ear canal.
Lie down with the affected ear for a minimum of 10 minutes.
Do not touch the tip of the bottle to your ear, fingers, or any other surface.
Repeat steps for another ear if necessary. Tighten the bottle cap after use.

Biomycetin Ear Drops 5ml are administered into the ear. It should not be ingested orally or administered through any other route.

Biomycetin Ear Drops 5ml may cause some side effects that are usually mild and go away as your body adjusts to the medicine.

Myelosuppression (bone marrow suppression) during previous exposure to chloramphenicol: The blood absorption of chloramphenicol may cause bone marrow depression.
Known personal or family history of blood disorder such as aplastic anaemia ( a condition when your bone marrow cannot make enough new blood cells). Chloramphenicol, when absorbed in the blood, may cause bone marrow depression and hinder the formation of new blood cells.

Over Dose
