BIOCOF MINT SYRUP 100ML may interact with the following medicines:

• CNS depressants such as benzodiazepines or opioids: Concurrent use may increase drowsiness, dizziness, reduced alertness, and breathing difficulty due to additive central nervous system depressant effects. Careful monitoring may be required, especially in older patients or those with respiratory disorders.
• Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) such as phenelzine or selegiline: Concomitant use may cause serious reactions, including high blood pressure, agitation, fever, or serotonin syndrome, due to increased effects of dextromethorphan and phenylephrine. This combination should generally be avoided.
• Beta-blockers such as propranolol: Concurrent use may alter cardiovascular responses and increase the risk of blood pressure fluctuations or abnormal heart rate due to opposing effects on the cardiovascular system. Monitoring may be required during combined use.
• Anticholinergic agents such as atropine: Combined use may increase anticholinergic side effects such as dry mouth, blurred vision, constipation, and difficulty in urination. Elderly patients may be more susceptible to these effects.
• Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) such as fluoxetine: Concomitant use may increase the risk of serotonin syndrome, which may present with symptoms such as agitation, confusion, sweating, tremors, or rapid heartbeat. Medical supervision is advised during combined use.
• Tricyclic antidepressants such as amitriptyline: Concurrent use may enhance sedative and anticholinergic effects, leading to increased drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, or urinary retention. Caution is advised, especially in older patient

• Hypertension: Phenylephrine may increase blood pressure and should be used cautiously in patients with hypertension, as it may worsen elevated blood pressure or related symptoms. Regular blood pressure monitoring may be required.
• Cardiovascular disease: Phenylephrine may increase heart rate and blood pressure, which may worsen symptoms in patients with heart disease or circulation disorders. Caution and medical supervision are advised.
• Glaucoma: Antihistamine and sympathomimetic effects of this medicine may increase intraocular pressure and worsen glaucoma symptoms in susceptible individuals.
• Prostatic hypertrophy: Anticholinergic effects may worsen urinary retention or difficulty in urination in patients with enlarged prostate. Patients should use this medicine cautiously under medical advice.
• Respiratory conditions: Use cautiously in asthma or chronic bronchitis, as cough suppression by dextromethorphan may mask worsening respiratory symptoms or lead to mucus accumulation in the airways.
