Bericort 6 MG Syrup 30 ML is used to treat Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) in children, a condition that causes progressive muscle weakness, where it can help maintain muscle strength for longer. It is also used to manage autoimmune conditions such as lupus, autoimmune hepatitis and sarcoidosis, joint and muscle diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, severe allergies and asthma, and certain cancers.
It contains deflazacort, a corticosteroid. The dose depends on the condition and the child's weight, so give it exactly as prescribed. Do not stop it suddenly, as the dose usually needs to be reduced gradually under the doctor's guidance.
A balanced diet with enough calcium and vitamin D, limiting added salt to reduce fluid retention, and keeping active as advised support health while taking this medicine.
Tell the doctor about any infections, diabetes or stomach problems before starting, and about other medicines being taken. Report signs of infection, severe stomach pain, mood changes or unusual swelling.
