Atropine Sulphate Eye Ointment 3Gm

Atropine Sulphate Eye Ointment is used in adults and children, under medical supervision, to dilate the pupils and to manage certain eye conditions affecting vision and eye muscle function.

Uses of Atropine Sulphate Eye Ointment are:

• Pupil Dilation: Widens the pupils before eye examinations or procedures.
• Eye Inflammation: Helps reduce eye redness and swelling.
• Myopia and Amblyopia Management: Helps slow the progression of short-sightedness in children and supports treatment of lazy eye.

• Wash your hands thoroughly before handling the eye ointment.
• Tilt your head back slightly and pull down your lower eyelid.
• Apply the ointment to the eye.
• Close your eyes gently for 1-2 minutes to allow the medicine to be absorbed.
• Wipe away any excess ointment with a clean tissue.

Atropine Sulphate Eye Ointment 3gm is applied topically.

Atropine Sulphate Eye Ointment 3gm contains atropine (1%), which works on the eyes in the following ways:

• Muscarinic receptor blockade: Atropine blocks specific receptors called muscarinic receptors in the eye muscles, causing the muscles responsible for pupil constriction to relax, resulting in pupil dilation.
• Ciliary muscle paralysis: This medicine temporarily paralyses the ciliary muscles, which affects the eye's ability to focus on close objects, a process known as accommodation.
• Dopamine modulation: By influencing dopamine levels in the eye, atropine helps alter eye growth patterns, which is particularly useful in slowing down the progression of myopia (near-sightedness).
• Inflammation reduction: Atropine helps reduce swelling and redness in the eye by interfering with certain inflammatory pathways.

• Store Atropine Sulphate Eye Ointment 3gm at temperatures below 25°C.
• Keep the container tightly closed when not in use.
• Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture.
• Keep out of reach of children to prevent accidental use.

• When managing myopia (near-sightedness), spend at least 2 hours daily outdoors in natural light, as studies show outdoor activity can help slow myopia progression.
• Reduce eye strain by following the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds to give your focusing muscles a break.
