Apidine 5 Eye Drops 5ml

Apidine 5 Eye Drops are used for nourishing dry eyes and maintaining a sterile environment around the eye. It is an antiseptic ophthalmic solution containing Povidone-Iodine, widely used to reduce or eliminate bacteria, viruses, and fungi from the surface of the eye. It is primarily used before eye surgeries, injections, or diagnostic procedures to manage infections, and may also be applied in minor conjunctival infections or eyelid hygiene. The iodine in the solution provides a broad-spectrum antimicrobial effect.

• Povidone Iodine (5%): It is a broad-spectrum antiseptic that releases iodine slowly to kill bacteria, viruses, fungi, and protozoa on contact. It is widely used in both medical and surgical settings for disinfecting skin, wounds, and mucous membranes, including the eyes. In ophthalmic use (like in eye drops), povidone-iodine helps manage infections before and after eye procedures by reducing microbial load on the ocular surface. It is generally well tolerated and provides fast-acting antimicrobial protection.

• Infection Management Before Injections: It is applied before intraocular or periocular injections to disinfect the eye area and manage potential microbial contamination that could lead to serious infections like endophthalmitis.
   
• Supportive Care for Minor Eye Infections: Apidine may be used under medical supervision to help manage mild conjunctival or periocular infections by reducing bacterial, viral, or fungal presence on the eye surface.
   
• Ocular Surface Cleansing: It helps in cleaning the eye and surrounding skin in clinical settings, especially in cases where maintaining eye hygiene is essential to manage cross-contamination.
