Altoran 40 Tablet 10 is used to manage high blood pressure in adults. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing azilsartan medoxomil, and belongs to a class of medicines called angiotensin II receptor blockers.
This medicine works by selectively blocking receptors that interact with angiotensin II, a substance that narrows blood vessels and stimulates the production of a hormone called aldosterone, which can raise blood pressure. By blocking these effects, this medicine relaxes blood vessels, effectively reducing blood pressure.
This medicine may be used alone or with other antihypertensive medicines when prescribed to improve blood pressure control.
Tell your doctor about any diabetes or kidney problems, before starting this medicine. It is not recommended during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters; discontinue and inform your doctor if you become pregnant. Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Report any diarrhoea or persistent dizziness to your doctor.
